“What they left behind”
This one is close to my heart, as it marks the very beginning of my journey into photography. Human Nature, a style perhaps even a philosophy, pioneered by James Popsys, explores the relationship between the man-made and the natural world. His ability to frame these interactions in a thoughtful and often muted way inspired me to pick up a camera and begin seeing my island differently.
While my work does not strictly follow the Human Nature approach, its influence is never far away. There are moments, often unplanned, where a composition naturally echoes that same balance, Whatever it might be the photos meet in a way that feels both intentional and organic. Whether it’s a solitary object set against an open expanse or the quiet contrast between industry and environment, these images serve as small reminders of that original inspiration.
This project is both a tribute and a reflection. It acknowledges the creative spark that first drew me into photography, while also documenting how that influence continues to shape my perspective today. In doing so, it becomes more than just a collection of images. It is a personal exploration of how inspiration evolves, and how even subtle ideas can leave a lasting imprint on the way we see the world.
